Thoroughbred racing horse ownership carries with it the opportunity and privilege to access special experiences unavailable to the general racing enthusiast.

However, with power comes responsibility.  The relationships that owners have with other owners, trainers, jockeys and the broader racing community must be managed carefully in a complex, regulated environment.

It is important to remember that Stewards, and other authorities, backed by legislation, have power to regulate the sport of thoroughbred horse racing, and its participants.

It follows that owners should familiarise themselves with the laws and rules of racing to see how it may apply to them, and obtain appropriate legal advice when required.
