The Melbourne Racing Club will launch a new horse ownership initiative, exclusively for MRC Members, on Saturday at Caulfield.
The initiative has been developed to offer Melbourne Racing Club Members the opportunity to experience the thrill of horse ownership including race day owners’ privileges while also providing the opportunity to socialise with fellow Members.
Under the banner of the ‘MRC Members’ Horse Club’, all MRC Members automatically become ‘owners’ of two horses leased from Swettenham Stud.
The MRC Horse Club will race two fillies that will be trained by Caulfield trainers Mick Price and Robert Smerdon. Haumea, by Encosta de Lago, will be trained by Price and has had six career starts to date while Smerdon will add his polish to an un-named Bianconi filly.
Members will be able to submit names for the Bianconi filly and can design a set of racing colours for both horses to carry in races.
There is no financial outlay to Members and all prize money won by the MRC Members’ Horse Club will be received by the MRC and go towards funding the MRC Members’ Horse Club in the future.
The MRC Members’ Horse Club journey will incorporate race day privileges when our horses race at MRC tracks, plus MRC stable tours, Swettenham Stud tours, website and email updates, tips and the all important latest updates on the progress of the two horses.
The official launch of the MRC Members’ Horse Club will take place at Caulfield on Saturday. Both fillies will be paraded in between races 3 and 4 under the watchful eye of Price and Smerdon as well as Swettenham Stud’s Bloodstock Manager/Sales and Marketing, Ian Rimington.
