Jonathan Munz

CHAIRMAN

Jonathan Munz has been on the Board of TROA since 2006 and Chairman since 2012.

He is a successful racehorse owner and commercial breeder, with his best horses including champion sprinter and Everest winner Giga Kick, Group 1 Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth, Champion 3yo filly Shoals, Star 2yo and multiple Group 1 winner King’s Legacy, Group 1 Australasian Oaks winner Toffee Tongue , Group 1 winner and Champion 2yo Meurice and Group 1 Australian Guineas Winner Ferlax.

Mr Munz was the founder and former Chairman of ASX 100 company, Reliance Worldwide Corporation Limited and also owns and manages GSA Capital, a large multi-strategy investor with major Australian and International operations and investments

Tanya Fullarton

VICE CHAIRMAN

Tanya has been involved in the racing and bloodstock industry her entire life. Tanya’s career in racing commenced at Racing Victoria in sponsorship, events and marketing within the Owners, Breeders and Racing departments. This led to the CEO role at Sirecam in the bloodstock industry and Commercial Manager (Racing) with The Slattery Media Group.

Director of Join the Dots Marketing (industry clientele including Thoroughbred Payments, Moonee Valley Racing Club and the National Jockeys Trust). Tanya joined the Geelong Racing Club Board in 2021. Tanya has successfully raced horses since 1995.  The most successful being stakes winner Permaiscuous.  Tanya has a strong background in the industry through her father, a hobby trainer and breeder, and grandfather Alex Fullarton who was inducted into the Jumps Racing Hall of Fame.

Danny Dexter

TREASURER

Danny Dexter is a partner in accounting firm Lowenstein Sharp Pty Ltd. and has served on numerous boards in both a professional and honorary capacity.

Danny has been a keen racing follower and an owner for the last fifteen years. Successes are highlighted by Ferlax (Australian Guineas-G1) , Larry’s Never Late (7 wind inc. Launceston Cup – G3) and Panorama Heights (9 wins inc. Barton Stakes – listed).  

Brae Sokolski

BOARD MEMBER

Brae Sokolski is the founder and Executive Director of MaxCap Group, Australia’s largest non-bank lender of commercial real estate debt. MaxCap is headquartered in Melbourne with offices in all Australian capital cities as well as Auckland and Singapore. MaxCap currently has almost $4 Billion of Funds Under Management and mandates with some of the worlds largest institutions. 

Brae has been actively involved in racehorse ownership for 20 years with current interests in over 80 thoroughbreds.  Brae's racehorse interests have been successful in nine Group 1 events, including The Everest with Yes Yes Yes, who Brae selected and acted as managing owner.

John O'Neill

BOARD MEMBER

John O’Neill is the CEO of QMS Media, one of Australia’s leading Out of Home Media companies.  He is also a Board Member of the OMA (Outdoor Media Association).

He has enjoyed success as a racehorse owner winning a number of Australia’s greatest races including the Melbourne Cup (Verry Elleegant), Caulfield Cup (Mummify, Verry Elleegant, Incentivise), Cox Plate (Sir Dragonet), VRC Derby (Hitotsu, Warning), and Blue Diamond (Tagaloa).

He is also one of the owners of star filly Coolangatta (winner of the Magic Millions as a 2yo, and Group 1 Moir Stakes and Lightning Stakes as a 3yo), as well as his old favourite five-time group 1 winner Boban.

Mark Pilkington

BOARD MEMBER

Marks first job in the thoroughbred industry was as a pedigree writer for the West Australian auction house Goodwood Bloodstock in 1986. He eventually became a partner and auctioneer in that business until he sold it to Gerry Harvey's Magic Millions in 1998. 

Mark was co-opted on the board of Aushorse in 1999. From 1999-2013 he managed the bloodstock affairs of David Hayes and the extended Client base of Lindsay Park- both domestically and internationally.  In 2014 he re-entered the Bloodstock world via his boutique thoroughbred portfolio management company Mark Pilkington Management. 

Peter Doran

BOARD MEMBER

Peter has been a member of the TROA board since his election in July 2010.

Employed as a Senior Business Analyst by Fujitsu Australia, Peter provides broad IT consultancy experience to Fujitsu's clients in the Transport, Logistics, Government and Rail Freight industries.

Peter has been involved in the racehorse industry for the past 30 years as both part owner and syndicate member.  A member of the both the Victoria Racing Club and Melbourne Racing Club Peter is also a keen golfer and is a member of the Spring Valley Golf Club.

Greg Peters

BOARD MEMBER

Greg Peters was appointed to the TROA Board in 2008.
He has raced horses for more than 35 years with his best horse being star 3yo Skalato and is also involved in the Industry as a breeder.

He has served on the board of Tennis Victoria as well as various sporting clubs.
Greg is the Managing Director of CGear, an international leader in synthetic meshing systems with products ranging from tactical landing mats for military helicopters to recreational camping products. 

Sophie Steel

BOARD MEMBER

Granddaughter of legendary trainer Colin Hayes, Sophie has extensive first hand knowledge of thoroughbred racing and her upbringing in Hong Kong with father David Hayes gave her a global perspective at an early age.

A double degree in business, sports management and exercise science, launched her into a talent administration and management role for TLA Worldwide, before stepping into the Godolphin Stable in Sydney as their media and public relations manager. 

Now, operating in the Hayes family’s Lindsay Park racing stable, Sophie is at the helm as general manager of the business dealing across a vast array of racing industry matters on a regular basis.

Jenny McAlpine

BOARD MEMBER

Jenny grew up working with horses on her family’s Eureka Stud in QLD. With thoroughbred knowledge and a journalism degree she held media and marketing roles in Sydney with NSW Thoroughbred Breeders, Sky Racing, Coolmore Stud and Gai Waterhouse before moving to Melbourne in 1996 as Marketing and Nominations Manager for Colin Hayes and Robert Sangster’s Collingrove Stud (now known as Swettenham Stud) which extended into a marketing and owner liaison role with Lindsay Park Racing for David Hayes.

Jenny runs her own business consulting to Lindsay Park Racing operating in a media, PR and owner relationship role and Tabcorp on racing industry events involving industry participants. For over two decades Jenny has been the Australian Representative for Tattersalls thoroughbred auction house, based in Newmarket, UK.
